– (pronounced: Dash or Däsch) are the two banks from Oberbaumbrücke to Stralauer Spitze in the districts of Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and Treptow. There our most currect theatre expedition started in summer 2023 with stories that tell of past and present, as well as local and global myths.
Like probably no other place in Berlin, the riverside promenades stand for the reciprocal relationship between work and pleasure in the city. The promenades are lined with old industrial sites that were built there in the course of industrialisation. But today’s globalised world economy also leaves its mark on this area: Zalando, Mediaspree, Universal and advertising agencies have settled there. Pleasure has also had a firm place here for a long time. Even in the past, it was a popular destination for workers. Today it is home to countless bars, clubs and restaurants that benefit from the open space between the industrial sites.
